Apple Fritters
This is an adaptation I made that has been a big hit on numerous occasions! Here’s what you need:
• 4 red delicious apples
• 2 cans of croissants (pre-cut into triangles)
• 1/4 cup white sugar
• 2/3 cup brown sugar
• 1 tablespoon fresh ground cinnamon
• 2 tablespoons water
• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Directions: (preheat oven to 375˚)
1. Core and cut apples into small pieces and cook them in a large saucepan with water and butter for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2. Slowly add white sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon and mix well. Let simmer until apples start to get soft. (about 15 minutes on medium-high heat) Then take apple mixture off the heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
3. Unroll croissants onto a greased cookie sheet and put about 1 tablespoon of apple mixture in the middle of each triangle, then wrap the dough all around so no mixture is visible. Bake at 375˚ for about 12 minutes or until golden brown.
